Ampeg Reverbojet II Golden Glow J12R

Here's a Ampeg Reverbojet II "Golden Glo" J12R. In my opinion, one of the worst looking amps ever made. I always thought it looked more like an old space heater or radiator cover than a guitar amp.

Here's another one. I much prefer the lighter grill cloth. Reverb, tremolo, volume, and tone. Input V/U meter. 18 watts. Single 12" speaker.

This is mine. I've had it for about 6 years. It's still in working condition, but it's noisy, ungrounded, has zero headroom, and looks like it's been sitting in the mud for 20 years.

Note the annoying "bowtie" shaped screws holding everything together. Luckily, I have the bit. Do yourself a favor and buy this Harbor Frieght Security Bit Set, lest you be tempted to use an incorrect bit and fatally strip the screw. EDIT: These abominations of god are call "clutch drive" screws. A #4 straight screw driver will be able remove them. After removal, melt them down, bury them out in the woods, and tell no one.

RUST.

Fender replacement speakers are fine by me. Note the deformed amp chassis.

Chassis pulled. At first I thought the bend in the metal above the controls was intentional, but actually, the weight of the transformers bent it over the years after the rubber feet melted/cracked off. Worthlessly thin chassis.

6u10, 12AX7(x2), 7591 (x2) All need to be replaced.

Corrosion everywhere.

Optocoupler for Tremolo. LDR works fine. Lamp is burnt out. I'm pretty sure that's the only reason the tremolo circuit isn't working.

Solid state rectifier.

Amp comes apart in two pieces.
